Department of African Studies had organised a thought-provoking session featuring distinguished guests from the University of the Free State, South Africa, and the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR).We were honored to welcome Prof. Elizabeth Snyman-Van Deventer, Head of the Department of Mercantile Law at the University of the Free State. She shared invaluable perspectives on necessary reforms in education and legal systems, exploring potential collaborations between South Africa and India. Prof. Denine Smit, Associate Professor in Mercantile Law at the University of the Free State. She presented compelling insights into workplace bullying, drawing comparisons across India, the US, and South Africa. Her emphasis on stringent legal measures resonated deeply with our faculty and scholars.
Dr. Richa Sharma, Deputy Director of ICSSR, brought profound insights into social science research and policy development. She highlighted strategic opportunities for collaborative research initiatives between India and Africa, shedding light on under-reported cases of violence and harassment.
